AMSTERDAM EYES SALE OPTION FOR WEST END GATEWAY

AMSTERDAM — A developer is interested in purchasing three city-owned properties in the West End.

On Tuesday, the Common Council will consider a resolution to enter into a purchase option agreement with Mohawk Valley Developments for the brownfield properties. According to the resolution, sponsored by 4th Ward Alderman Stephen Gomula, the purpose of the 12-month agreement is to give the company the time to for due diligence in studying the West End Gateway parcels and developing a demolition and “master revitalization plan.”

The agreement essentially gives the company the exclusive right to buy the properties for a year.

The parcels include: 399 West Main St., 36 Carmichael St., and 52 Carmichael St. and include the remains of the former All Seasons Motor Sports building, which has been abandoned since 2011 when it was damaged by Tropical Storm Irene.
