Avon town, village pursuing revamped parking lot to ease court night congestion

With the large volume traffic tickets and other arrests being made as a result of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office ongoing Operation Safe Interstate initiative, court nights in the village and town of Avon tend to be busy.

“You go to any town along (Interstate) 390 and court night is packed,” said Village Mayor Tom Freeman. “And it’s non-residents. It’s a 390 affair.”

All those non-residents driving to Avon to appear in court naturally need a place to park their vehicles, said Freeman, which can make for headaches on court nights.

“It just fills all the current spaces downtown and has a tremendous impact on the local businesses that are open,” he said…
