Capital project makes for busy back-to-school at Central Valley

ILION, N.Y. – What’s new at the Central Valley Central School District this school year?

A lot.

Most visible is the continued work of the $73.6 million capital project that includes renovations at all four buildings, including Gregory B. Jarvis Middle School. The front entrance to the building was fenced off Monday morning and gaping holes have been made in the back of the building as it undergoes two years of renovations.

Some of the capital project work, which started in 2017, has already been completed. New additions were built onto both elementary school buildings, along with a new turf field at Central Valley Academy.

Due to the construction work, Jarvis students have been split up into two different schools: fifth and sixth grades at Barringer Road Elementary School and seventh and eighth at Central Valley Academy.
