City finishes Geneva Foundry cleanup

GENEVA — While the state Department of Environmental Conservation gears up for another year cleaning contaminated properties near the former Geneva Foundry site, one remediation project is complete.

That’s the foundry site itself.

Acting City Manager Sage Gerling said at last week’s City Council meeting that the city has completed its $250,000 remediation of Geneva Foundry land, which consists of 2.5 acres on Jackson Street. She said final regrading and seeding will be done in the spring.
