Continental Commons, development on former American Revolution site, moves closer to construction

For nearly four years, a proposed Town of Fishkill hotel and retail development has been at the center of a contentious debate between a property owner and those who wish to preserve land that once played a key role in the American Revolution.

But that development, named Continental Commons, may be just months away from breaking ground, according to Greg Lane, spokesman for the project.

The project is able to move forward in the approval process after the town planning board on Thursday determined the project would not have a significant adverse environmental impact to the land, by unanimous vote.
