County accepts $1.3 million settlement for fire-damaged Franklinville barn

LITTLE VALLEY — Cattaraugus County lawmakers agreed Wednesday to accept a $1,325,000 insurance settlement for the Franklinville Highway Barn which was destroyed by fire last October.

The insurance company had previously agreed to nearly $185,000 in payments including $95,397 in extra expenses incurred in getting temporary facilities operating at the site in time for the winter season.

County Administrator Jack Searles said insurance also paid $43,655 for a damaged loader, $43,371 for the contents of the barn and $2,286 for personal items.
