County allots funds to help farmers repair homes

Officials from the Otsego County Planning Department announced this week the launch of a pilot program offering home repair assistance to Otsego County farmers.

With programs already in place to administer resources to veterans and the elderly, the county saw an opportunity to focus on another group in need of assistance, said Erik Scrivener, senior planner with the county planning department.

Local nonprofit Otsego Rural Housing Assistance, Inc., which implements housing grants on behalf of low-income county residents, will administer the new program, known as Farm Restore.
