County lawmakers to vote Wednesday on mosquito contracts

LITTLE VALLEY — The calendar may say early April — and there’s still snow on the ground in parts of Cattaraugus County — but it’s not too soon to think about mosquitoes.

County lawmakers will vote on a resolution Wednesday to share the cost of the county’s 2018 mosquito control program amongst the cities of Olean and Salamanca and six towns.

The city of Olean was assessed $16,334 as a share of local funding, while the city of Salamanca was assessed $5,060. The towns’ share are: Allegany, $10,932; Carrollton, $1,976; Great Valley, $4,275; Hinsdale, $3,059; Olean, $2,604; and Portville, $3,306…
