BELMONT — At its first meeting of 2019, the Allegany County Public Works committee approved two bridge replacement projects, including one deteriorating structure that is already closed to traffic.
The Department of Public Works is targeting bridge replacements on Emerson Road in the Town of Almond and Narrows Road in the Town of Burns.
The bridge in Burns, constructed in 1976, is currently closed to vehicular traffic. It has been flagged for the last nine inspections for structure or safety issues. The new structure is estimated to cost $368,000 ($312,800 county share, $55,200 town share).
The Almond bridge was constructed in 1972 and is currently posted for 22 tons. It has been flagged three times. Its replacement is estimated to cost $284,550 ($241,867.50 county, $42,682.50 town).
