NEWFANE — This summer, Newfane Middle School students learned about local agriculture firsthand with visits to several local farms. Students in the program gave a presentation at Tuesday’s school board meeting.
The district has continued operating a different kind of summer school. Rather than remedial instruction, Newfane summer school offers struggling students a chance to advance their knowledge. Last year, summer school teacher Roberta Faery embraced project-based learning and had her students create a book about the problems that Plan 2014 had caused for residents on the Lake Ontario shoreline.
