Funds allocated for sewer generators

OLEAN — Power outages causing sewer water to pour into the Allegheny River should be a thing of the past “hopefully before winter.”

The Common Council unanimously approved $75,000 from the city’s sewer contingency fund and $25,000 from the city’s sewer fund balance.

Department of Public Works Director Bob Ring previously told the Common Council’s City Operations committee that it would cost $100,000 to begin construction on emergency generators at two of the city’s lift stations to avoid an incident like occured Aug. 17.
