Ground broken for campground, brewery at former Frontier Town

Ground has been broken for a $19 million campground that will include equestrian camping and day-use areas at the site of the former Frontier Town amusement park.

The new facilities will connect to an existing trail network to part of the Schroon Lake — North Hudson snowmobile trail network, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.

In addition, Schroon Lake-based Paradox Brewery will spend $5.2 million on a new brewery and taproom. The investment includes the building and brewing equipment, as well as a waste treatment system.

Paradox will benefit from a $200,000 Empire State Development grant and $300,000 in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits to create 22 jobs. The Development Authority of the North Country will provide $500,000 to help pay for the demolition at the Frontier Town site…
