Ilion eligible for water project funds

ILION — The village of Ilion’s plan to run a water transmission line from the village wells to the treatment plant has received a major boost with the announcement the village is eligible for a hardship funding package from the state.

Mayor Brian Lamica announced during Wednesday’s village board meeting that the package includes a $2,561,610 grant from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and interest-free financing of $1,707,740 for up to 30 years for the project.

“This is the first good news we’ve really gotten,” said Lamica, after reading the Feb. 26 letter from the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation.
