GENEVA — A Geneva-based legal organization is getting $600,000 to help victims of domestic and sexual violence.
The federal funding for Legal Assistance of Western New York was recently announced by U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. It was provided by the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women’s Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program.
Legal Assistance of Western New York will use the funds to help victims of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault. The money will provide legal services to victims, provide training to staff on legal issues affecting victims, do outreach on available services to students at colleges and universities, and increase the network of partners to expand the services available to victims.
