Local biodigester continues to improve and turn wasted food into energy

Think of the recent Earth Day observances, and chances are you’re thinking of trees and flowers, maybe cleaning up a park. But taking good care of our planet involves much more than planting trees or cleaning streams.

That was demonstrated nicely when Noblehurst Farms honored Earth Day by offering tours of its biodigester.

Biodigester? Yes. Noblehurst Farms in Linwood is home to an anaerobic biodigester that processes manure, waste water and milk from the farm’s dairy cows, and food scraps from stores and restaurants, and produces the energy that powers not only the farm, but also the adjacent Craigs Station Creamery facility.
