ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. – It may have been a bit chilly outside, but spirits were high with the official groundbreaking for the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District capital project taking place Thursday afternoon.
The groundbreaking – held behind the elementary school on state Route 29 – included administrators and board members who said the event was a long time coming.
“The merger took place on July 1, 2013, and here it is 2018, so it’s been five years,” board President Neil Clark said after the ceremony. Clark said when the new district formed, incentive aid was available for a building project over the next 10 years. That leaves the district another five years to utilize the aid.
