WILLIAMSVILLE: Protest against Northern Access proposal coming Saturday.
While the state and federal governments have issued conflicting decisions regarding National Fuel’s proposed Northern Access 2016 pipeline, local opposition to the project has continued to make themselves heard.
Months after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved National Fuel’s Northern Access 2016 pipeline project, and more than a year after the state Department of Environmental Conservation denied water permits for the same project, local environmentalists and affected property owners will stage a march in front of National Fuel’s headquarters in Williamsville this weekend.
According to a press release from the Sierra Club Niagara Group, the purpose of the march is “to express our objections to National Fuel’s persistence to build the Northern Access fracked gas pipeline despite NYSDEC’s denial of the 401 Water Certification. National Fuel has filed with (FERC) requesting a three year extension and they are persisting with eminent domain cases against landowners.”
