Public hearing on eminent domain for SF sculpture trail set for March 6

The Town Board voted 4-1 Tuesday to schedule a public hearing on the issue at the start of the board’s next regular meeting. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. March 6.

Doug Avery was the lone board member opposed.

Town officials are considering the use of eminent domain to gain access to a portion of the Ludovico Sculpture Trail on the south side the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. Eminent domain allows a governmental entity to gain access or control of a parcel of private land if it can convince a judge it would be in the public good of a community.
