Seneca Street bridge set to close Monday

HORNELL — Traffic patterns are about to change on a major street in the City of Hornell.

Work on the Seneca Street bridge will begin on Monday, Feb. 17. The area will be closed to traffic throughout the bridge replacement process, which is expected to last into July or August.

“It will take people a little while to get adjusted to that,” Department of Public Works Superintendent Mitch Cornish said at Thursday’s Board of Public Works meeting. “The detour is West Genesee Street over to the four-lane, Maple City Drive. It’s just two streets over so once people get used to it they’ll try to avoid that, hopefully.”
