A solar farm on the property of the Candor Central School District bus garage is covering the district’s electricity costs and will provide over $3 million in electrical savings to taxpayers over 25 years.
The acquisition and renovation of a building in the district’s new transportation facility helped bring about the creation of the solar farm, according to school officials. The site came with 16 acres, half of which were behind the building.
“The property laid out perfectly for this project,” said Superintendent Jeff Kisloski about the project that went on line on Dec. 29.
Candor School District is projected to receive about $1.98 million in state aid for the $2.2 million project, Kisloski said. The project is qualified to cover its $2.2 million cost over 17 years with only the electrical savings…
