State to pave roads following harsh winter

Additional $128 million to fix 1,000 lane miles of road

OLEAN — More highway work is coming to the region this summer after the state set aside millions more due to the rough winter.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced $128 million in new funding for renewing State roadways impacted by this year’s harsh winter weather.

Locally, high-traffic roads including Route 16 north of Olean and Route 219 north of Salamanca will see repaving with the aid.

Statewide, the funding will support 91 paving projects and the renewal of approximately 1,000 lane miles of pavement across the state, including at least one project in every county. The new funding, provided through the PAVE NY Initiative, complements $100 million previously committed earlier this year for local projects that renew approximately 3,700 lane miles of road across New York State.
