Water line replacement becomes top priority

NORTH HORNELL — For several Seneca Street residents in North Hornell, a drought has hit their homes.

During Monday’s meeting of the village board, a set of neighbors detailed a severe lack of water pressure to their fixtures.

“I’m getting a gallon a minute from my kitchen sink and shower,” said David Vankeuren. “We get a lot of rusty water.”

They had installed in-line water filters to address the problem, but the pressure problem continues and pipes squeal as they struggle to push water. They also consulted with a plumber, who was unable to fix a sewer line issue due to a lack of water.
