HORNELL — The plan for Preston Avenue is coming together.
City of Hornell and Steuben County officials held a press conference Thursday detailing the future of the city street that was devastated by a historic fire Nov. 17.
The blaze spread from 11 Preston Avenue to neighboring residences, eventually destroying five homes and damaging others. The fire leveled a sizable swath of real estate, impacting more than 20 residents, and leaving behind a patch of devastation that has been cordoned off for nearly three months.
Now, the city has a plan both for cleanup and eventual redevelopment of the area.
